ABOUT US

We believe that the Church of Christ at Mountain View exists to fulfill five basic purposes:

  1. 1.To fulfill the great commission:

  2. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

  3. 2.To equip the saints for works of ministry:

  4. “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fulness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-13

  5. 3.To multiply and reproduce disciples:

  6. “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:2

  7. 4.To gather together to worship Christ, our Lord:

  8. “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the day approaching.”  Hebrews 10:25

  9. 5.To learn “all things” Christ taught through the apostles:

  10. “They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Acts 2:42

we believe that to be saved a person must:

  1. 1.Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ:

  2. John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 11:6

  3. But faith without works is dead - James 2:14, 17, 26

  4. Faith and works save - James 2:22, 24; Acts 8:12, 37; 18:8

  5. 2.Repent of your sins:

  6. Luke 13:3; 15:7; Acts 2:38; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9

  7. What is repentance? - 1 Peter 3:11; 2 Corinthians 7:10

  8. 3.Confess Jesus as Lord and Christ:

  9. Matthew 10:32-33; Mark 8:38; 1 Timothy 6:12-13; 1 John 4:15

  10. 4.Be immersed in water:

  11. Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16;16; John 3:5; Acts 2:38; 8:36-39; 16:33; Romans 6:4-6; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21

  12. 5.Observe the Lord’s Supper:

  13. John 6:53-58; Acts 2:42; 20:7

  14. 6.Be faithful unto death:

  15. Matthew 24:13; 2 Peter 1:5-12; Revelation 2:10, 26-27; 3:10,21

A SIMPLE STATEMENT OF OUR POSITION:

  1. The Church of Christ is the people who accept Christ as the Divine Son of God and their personal Savior.  They obey all of His commands, and they take His Word as their only rule of faith and practice.

  1. The Church of Christ is non-sectarian, nor is it a denominational institution.  It is the Spiritual body of Christ, wherein dwells the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ (see Romans 8:8-15) which is the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).

  1. We have no conference, no episcopacy, no presbyter, no bishopric, no pope, no ecclesiastical rule of any kind over us.  We recognize only Christ and His Word in all essential matters, and the autonomy of the local congregation in non-essential matters.  We have elders and evangelists who serve in leading the congregation at Mountain View.
