What We Believe

Here at Mountain View we are passionate about seeing your life changed for Christ so that He might make you into the disciple He wants you to be.  We say it like this:

Connecting the LOST – releasing them as EQUIPPED Disciples in Christ

Our beliefs reflect and affect everything that we do here at CCMV.  We take the Bible as our foundation for our beliefs.  The following statements should help you understand who we are:

 GOD

God created everything and also keeps everything (heaven and earth) in balance.  He is eternal, which means He has no beginning or end.  In the Bible He is known as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 3:16–17; John 1:1-2; Acts 2:32–33)

 JESUS

Jesus lives in eternity in relationship in God as the Son.  We believe that Jesus came to earth through God’s servant, Mary, who was a virgin.  The reason He came to earth was to live a sinless life which allowed Him to make the ultimate sacrifice for sin on the cross.  After three days in the tomb He rose and is alive today at the right hand of God the Father. (Colossians 2:9; Luke 1:30-35; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

 HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is all over the Bible, but in the New Testament He is known as a Comforter, a Helper, and He is the agent through which people are convicted of sin and righteous living.  He is given to each Christian and also helps each believer use whatever gifts He has given. (John 16:8; Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13-14)

 THE BIBLE

The Bible is actually made up of 66 different books, written by various authors over a vast time period.  In spite of all of that it is extremely accurate and consistent in its message.  We believe that although it was written by men, it was inspired to be written by God the Spirit and as such it is true and accurate in its writing and transmission through the ages.  The Bible is meant to be read so that it can transform your life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

 US

The dirty truth is that we sin…all of us sin.  Because we are sinners we need help from heaven.  That help came through God the Son, Jesus Christ when He took our penalty for sin (death) by dying for us on the cross.  We now get to live with each other in God’s perfect plan, the Church.  (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23, 6:23; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 1)

 SALVATION

God went to great lengths so that we might be saved from sin and have hope of eternal life with Him.  It’s not your goodness or your deeds that get you there.  The only thing that gets you there is Jesus’ death and resurrection.  Through that your sins can be forgiven (erased).  This is a free gift and all that we have to do is accept it. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 2:6; Acts 2:38)

 THE CHANGE

Since God has gone to such great lengths to save us, we should respond to that in some way.  The Bible says that this is a process that involves repenting (changing my mind about who controls my decisions), confessing Jesus as Lord and being baptized (submerged) in water and rising to your new life in Christ, and remembering Him when the Church gathers at communion.  When we make Him Lord, we enter into a new life (a “new covenant”) as we follow Him (“discipleship”).  (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-38; 1 Corinthians 11; Galatians 3:26-27)

 HEAVEN & HELL

Heaven and Hell are real and we realize that there are many different ideas about both.  Heaven was created for your eternity while Hell was created for Satan and those fallen angels that followed him.  God wants you to choose Him and in doing so rewards us with life eternal in Heaven.  We want to go there and we want you to come with us!  (Acts 1:10-11; John 5:28-29; Daniel 12:2; 2 Corinthians 4:14)
